Motion diagrams follow the character's facing direction. Button colors remain consistent across the full roster; “Variant” rows inherit the parent move's input.
Fundamentals-focused all-rounder
Captain America is a flexible starting character with solid normals, reusable shield control, defensive Shield Guard, and a direct overhead-low mix-up once the opponent respects his approach.
Starter game plan
- Throw Shield Strike to occupy the lane, then use Ricochet Volley or forward movement to follow behind it.
- At close range, rotate Freedom Charge lows with the Heavy Soaring Justice overhead and confirm the hit with an assist.
- Use Shield Guard against a predicted mid or high attack, while remembering that grounded lows bypass the defense.
Key tools
A neutral anchor that can be redirected with Captain America's Unique shield interactions.
Kicks the returning shield back into play, extending projectile presence while Captain America advances.
A parry/armor-style defensive option that answers selected attacks but remains vulnerable to lows.
The low and overhead branches form the practical close-range mix-up and both can lead to conversions.
Lab note: Shield Guard is not a universal reversal, and uncovered aerial Skills can be challenged. Use the shield or an assist to establish the approach first.
